Key findings
- A group karting race for a stag or hen do typically costs £50 a head (median of 50 venues). Half charge between £42 and £60.
- For a group of 10 that is about £500. A full grand prix format costs more: a typical £58 a head, about £580 for 10.
- The cheapest way on track is an arrive-and-drive session at a typical £40 a head, but you share the track with the public.
- Outdoor circuits, the favourite for a proper race day, charge more for group races: £59 against £45 indoors. 62 of the 149 UK tracks we list are outdoor.
- In our own stag, hen and celebration enquiries the typical group was 7 people, and 15 of 26 who gave a date wanted a Saturday.
What a karting stag do costs
We checked the group race prices published by every karting venue we list, plus the adult sessions, grand prix and endurance packages on their own booking systems. Here is what each format costs per person, and for a group of 10.
| Format | Prices checked | Per person | For 10 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Arrive and drive A timed session on a shared track. Cheapest, least private. | 42 at 22 venues | £40 | £400 |
| Group race Your group on track together, usually practice, qualifying and a race. | 50 venues | £50 | £500 |
| Grand prix Heats, a final and a podium for your group: the classic stag format. | 83 at 29 venues | £58 | £580 |
| Endurance Teams share karts over a longer race, with pit stops. Best for bigger groups. | 25 at 14 venues | £75 | £750 |
For most stag and hen groups the grand prix is the format to book: everyone races, there is a winner, and the podium photo does the rest. Arrive and drive is cheaper, but you share the track and the timing with strangers.
Indoor or outdoor?
Of the 149 UK tracks we list, 62 are outdoor circuits. They are longer and faster, many run bigger petrol karts, and they suit a group that wants a proper race day. Their group races cost more: a typical £59 a head against £45 at indoor tracks.
Indoor tracks run whatever the weather and are often in or near town, which makes the evening easier to plan. Many have a bar or café on site.
What stag and hen groups ask for
From the stag, hen and celebration enquiries sent through GoKartingUK since July (a small sample of 36), the typical group was 7 people, with half between 6 and 12. Saturday was the day most wanted: 15 of the 26 who gave a date. Bigger groups (12 and over) should look at endurance races or exclusive track hire, which many venues price per group.
Before you book
- Ask for your group's own race. A private grand prix keeps your group together on track; a public session doesn't.
- Check the age and ID rules if anyone is under 18, and the venue's rules on alcohol before racing (most refuse anyone who has been drinking).
- Book Saturdays early, especially from spring to late summer, the busiest stag season.
- Ask about a deposit and the final-numbers deadline; groups often shrink.
- Plan the rest of the day around it. Most races take two to three hours including the briefing, so karting works best as the afternoon before the evening.

How we did it
Group race prices are the cheapest per-person karting-led group price published by each venue, checked between late September and 5 October 2026 (50 venues; multi-activity, per-team and ex-VAT prices left out). Session, grand prix and endurance prices are the adult packages venues publish on their own booking systems (150 packages at 31 venues). Enquiry figures come from 36 genuine stag, hen and celebration group enquiries made through GoKartingUK since July 2026, counted once each. "Typical" means the median.
