What is free, permanently

All of the following costs nothing, and will continue to cost nothing:

• Being listed, and staying listed. Your venue page, and your place in our directory.
• Corrections and additions. Prices, ages, opening hours, track length, kart specification — tell us and it is usually live within 48 hours.
• Photos. Send images you have the rights to and we will use them in place of library stock.
• Regional and comparison pages. Appearing on your region page, in the venue index, and in our editorial comparisons.
• Lap records. A place on our UK lap records board, for venue-confirmed times.
• Customer enquiries. Anything submitted through our forms is passed to you at no charge, with no commission and no fee per booking.

What we do not hold

This is the part that matters most if you work somewhere that has to account for spending. We do not hold an account for your venue, a contract, a renewal date, a trial period, or any payment details. There is nothing to cancel and nothing to opt out of, because there is nothing running in the first place. Nothing could ever be charged to you without you agreeing to it in writing beforehand.

How the site is actually funded

A free listing usually prompts a reasonable question about where the money comes from. GoKartingUK is funded by advertising shown to visitors and by affiliate commission on some third-party bookings. In other words the readers fund the site, not the venues in it.

That arrangement is deliberate. A directory that charges venues to appear has an obvious incentive to rank the paying ones higher, and readers work that out quickly. We would rather the listings be worth trusting.

What is paid, and how it is kept separate

We would rather state this plainly than let you discover it later. We do offer commercial arrangements to venues: clearly-labelled featured placements, and affiliate links on some bookings. Three things about them:

• They are opt-in. No venue is enrolled automatically, and we only discuss them if a venue approaches us.
• Declining costs you nothing. It has no effect on your listing, its content, or where it appears.
• Editorial position is not for sale. Our rankings, comparisons and recommendations are not influenced by any commercial arrangement, and anything paid is labelled as such.

Corrections, and removal

We build listings from information venues have themselves published, and we leave gaps blank rather than guess. That means we sometimes get things wrong or out of date.

If something on your page is incorrect, tell us and we will fix it — usually within 48 hours. If you would prefer not to be listed at all, say so and we will remove the page. No notice period, no questions, no attempt to talk you out of it.

Is anything expected in return?

No. You are under no obligation to link to us, display a badge, send photos, or reply to us at all. We are glad when venues do, and the listing is better for it — but these are offers, not conditions, and nothing is withheld from a venue that ignores us entirely.

Common questions

Is there a charge to be listed on GoKartingUK?

No. Listing is free and permanent. There is no charge to be listed, to stay listed, to have details corrected, to add photos or specifications, to appear on our regional and comparison pages, or to receive customer enquiries we pass on.

Could a charge arise later?

No. We hold no account, no contract, no renewal date and no payment details for any venue, so there is no mechanism by which an invoice could be raised. Nothing would ever be charged without a venue agreeing to it in writing first.

Do you take commission on bookings?

No. We take no commission and no fee per booking. Enquiries submitted through our forms are passed to venues at no charge, and what happens after that is between the venue and the customer.

Do you offer anything paid?

Yes, and we would rather say so plainly. We carry advertising, we use affiliate links on some third-party bookings, and we offer optional, clearly-labelled featured placements. All of it is opt-in and separate from your listing. Nobody is enrolled automatically, and declining changes nothing about your listing or where it appears. Our editorial rankings and comparisons are not for sale.

How do I get my listing corrected or removed?

Email us. Corrections are usually live within 48 hours. Removal is immediate on request, with no notice period and no questions asked.

Do we have to give you anything in return?

No. There is no requirement to link to us, display a badge, provide photos or reply at all. We build listings from publicly available information either way. The things we ask for are offers, not conditions.
