About Chaos Karts Manchester

Chaos Karts sits on Lower Byrom Street in central Manchester, next door to the Science and Industry Museum and opposite St John's Gardens. It is projection-mapped karting rather than conventional racing: the venue describes transporting drivers “to immersive virtual worlds, where you can race through futuristic landscapes, overcome virtual obstacles, and unleash fantastical weapons”.

It now operates as part of Arcade Arena, alongside a PAC-MAN LIVE experience at the same site — the chaoskarts.com address redirects there. It is the most central karting of any kind in Manchester, which for a city-centre group without a car is the practical point.

The Circuit

There is no conventional circuit to measure. State-of-the-art projection technology puts the track and its obstacles on the floor, and the environment changes through the session.

You are on track for approximately 20 minutes, which is longer than the 15-minute sessions the augmented-reality BattleKart sites run. The venue does not publish a kart specification or top speed, so we have not listed either.

Who Should Visit

All participants must be at least 8 years old and a minimum of 1.3 metres tall. The venue notes that anyone close to the height limit may be asked to demonstrate in a kart that they can operate it safely, and may be refused if not — so a borderline child is worth a phone call first.

The 1.3m minimum is lower than the 1.45m the BattleKart sites require, which makes this the more workable immersive option for younger families.

Planning Your Visit

You will find it at Arcade Arena, Lower Byrom Street, Manchester M3 4FP. The main entrance is on the corner of Studio 1, next to the Science and Industry Museum and directly opposite St John's Gardens.

The venue handles enquiries through live chat and an online form rather than publishing a phone number or email address, so we have not listed either. Book online in advance — city-centre weekend slots go early.
