About Wakefield Indoor Karting

Wakefield Indoor Karting is at Millenia Park on Thornes Road, a few minutes from junction 39 of the M1. It runs all year on an indoor tarmac circuit, and the venue says it was one of the first in the UK to lay tarmac indoors.

A raised spectator area overlooks the whole track, so anyone not driving can follow the racing.

The Circuit

The venue does not publish a track length. It describes an 80-metre straight and tight hairpins, and says it changes the circuit layout regularly.

The karts are Sodi RT8 petrol rental karts. Every driver needs a balaclava and full-fingered gloves: bring your own, or buy them on site for £3 and £2.

Who Should Visit

Juniors race from age 8. The venue gives two different minimum heights: 49 inches (about 124cm) on its pricing page and 4ft 4in (about 132cm) on its homepage, so check with them if your child is close to either. Under-16s who are around 5ft 3in or taller may be put in an adult kart at the adult price.

Grand Prix events are for drivers aged 16 and over and need at least 20 drivers. The Junior Race School, for ages 8 to 15, runs every other Tuesday at 5:30pm and costs £25 a session.

Planning Your Visit

The address is Unit 5, Millenia Park, Thornes Road, Wakefield WF2 8PW, and the phone number is 01924 201808. The venue does not publish an email address, so call or use the contact form on its website.

Pre-booking is recommended. Prepaid groups of 10 or more can book exclusive use of the track, and in a group of six that includes a junior, one junior drives free.
