It is augmented-reality karting: no physical track, a circuit projected onto the floor of the hall, and sensor-equipped electric karts that react to it.
It also keeps the latest hours in the group — midnight on Saturdays — which makes it the most practical of the four for an evening out rather than a daytime activity.
No track length applies, because the circuit is projected and changes between modes. Six games are offered: BattleRace, BattleVirus, BattleFoot, BattlePool, BattleSnake and BattleColor.
One session lasts 15 minutes including boarding and landing, for 2 to 12 players.
Unlike the chain's other UK sites, St Albans sets a minimum age: every player must be at least 11 years old, and at least 4‹9″ (about 145cm) tall. Both apply, so a tall nine-year-old still cannot race here — worth knowing if you are choosing between BattleKart sites for a younger group.
The late weekend hours and the corporate-friendly location make it a natural fit for work nights out and older birthday groups.
You will find it at 4 Brick Knoll Park, Ashley Road, St Albans AL1 5UG. Phone 07503 917170 or email info@london-st-albans.battlekart.com.
Opening hours are 2pm-10pm Monday to Thursday, 2pm-11pm Friday, 11am-midnight Saturday and 12pm-9pm Sunday, opening an hour earlier on weekdays in school holidays. Weekday prices are £20 for the first game, £18 for the second and £16 thereafter; weekends are £25, £20 and £18.

Until 10pm Monday to Thursday, 11pm on Friday and midnight on Saturday, with Sunday closing at 9pm. It keeps the latest hours of the four UK sites.
