Formula Kart sits on Queen's Promenade at Blackpool's North Shore — a seafront kart circuit, which is rare in Britain. It is an outdoor track, and a fast one.

The Circuit

The circuit runs to 750 metres with an average width of 9 metres, which is generously wide and means overtaking is a genuine option rather than a hopeful lunge.

The headline figure is speed: the adult fleet is twin-engined and the venue quotes a top speed of over 60mph. That is at the very top end for UK hire karting — most outdoor circuits run 40 to 50mph — so this is a track for people who want pace rather than a gentle first go. Junior karts are available separately.

Who Should Visit

Racing is open from age 8 with a minimum height of 4 feet 6 inches, or 137cm.

Given the speeds involved, this suits confident and experienced drivers more than absolute beginners, although tuition is available for those starting out. Formats include corporate events, stag and hen dos, endurance races, Grand Prix events and children's parties.
