Get corporate quotes →Parkwood Karting is an outdoor circuit on Parkwood Road, remarkably close to Sheffield city centre — which is unusual, because outdoor tracks are normally pushed well out of town. Being outdoors and central at the same time is its distinguishing feature.
The track runs to 470 metres of high-grip tarmac with elevation changes through the lap, and the venue quotes an average lap time of 36 seconds. The karts are 270cc petrol machines reaching 45mph — meaningfully quicker than the typical indoor electric fleet, and the elevation means the lap rewards commitment rather than just tidy lines.
Racing is open from age 8. The format list is broad: Grand Prix and Super Grand Prix events, practice sessions, junior karting, family karting and team endurance races, so it works for a casual first visit as well as an organised group day.
The trackside setup is better than most outdoor venues manage — heated indoor viewing with a log fire means spectators are not left standing in Sheffield weather, which makes it a more realistic option for a mixed group where not everyone is driving.
You will find it at Parkwood Road, Sheffield S3 8AG, with free parking on site. The phone number is 0114 279 9666.
Opening hours are Monday to Saturday from 9:30am to 9:30pm, with Sunday availability by arrangement — call to check. Race wear is included, and the venue provides changing rooms, catering, computer timing, podium awards and medals. Current prices are on the venue's own prices page; confirm when booking.
