Key findings

The headline numbers

We checked the published Christmas and group race prices of all 149 karting venues listed on GoKartingUK. 110 publish a price online, and 97 of those are karting-led prices per person that compare like for like. That is the basis for every figure below.

Most of the market sits in a fairly tight band. 66 of the 97 venues charge between £40 and £59 a head, so the difference between a cheap and an expensive night is usually the format and the circuit, not the venue's postcode.

Christmas packages cost less than standard group races

It sounds back to front, but the dedicated Christmas packages are the cheaper way in: a typical £45 a head, against £50 for a standard group race at the same kind of venue.

The reason is what you get. Most Christmas packages are open races on a shared track, often two short races with the fastest lap winning, and they run on set dates. A standard group race or private event usually means heats, a final and a podium for your group alone. If you want the track to yourselves, expect to pay the group rate.

Outdoor circuits30£57.50

Petrol karts61£48
TeamSport sites38£45
Independent venues59£54.50

Outdoor circuits cost about 28% more than indoor tracks. They are longer and faster, and many run petrol karts with bigger engines. Electric karts, which most indoor tracks now use, came out slightly cheaper than petrol. TeamSport, the largest operator with 38 sites in the data, sits below the independent average at £45 against £54.50.

Region by region

Prices vary less by region than you might expect. London is not the most expensive place for a Christmas race: the East of England and the South West both came out higher, largely because more of their venues are outdoor circuits.

How we did it

Between late September and 5 October 2026 we checked the website of every karting venue listed on GoKartingUK for a published Christmas package or, where there wasn't one, a standard group race price. We recorded the cheapest per-person price for a karting-led package at each venue. We left out multi-activity packages (where karting is bundled with bowling, archery or similar), prices per team, and prices quoted without VAT, so that the figures compare like for like. "Typical" means the median. Prices are "from" prices published by the venues themselves; the price for a particular date can be higher.

Of 149 venues, 110 published a price and 97 met the like-for-like test. Venues that only quote on request are not included.
