Key findings
- 8 is the age that opens up karting. 114 of 126 UK tracks take 8-year-olds, but only 26 take 7-year-olds and 11 take children of 5 or under.
- Height matters as much as age: the most common minimum is 120cm (36 of the 71 tracks that publish one).
- In 95 kids party enquiries we received, the birthday child was typically 11, and the typical party was 6 children.
- 46 of 73 parents who gave a date wanted a Saturday. The typical party was booked 28 days ahead.
- Published kids party packages cost a typical £38 per child, about £230 for 6 children (a small sample: 15 packages at 9 venues).
What age can kids go karting?
For most of the UK, karting starts at 8. We checked the minimum age at every track we list: 126 publish one, and 114 of them take 8-year-olds. Below that the choice drops sharply.
| Child's age | Tracks that take them | Share |
|---|---|---|
| 4 | 9 of 126 | |
| 5 | 11 of 126 | |
| 6 | 20 of 126 | |
| 7 | 26 of 126 | |
| 8 | 114 of 126 | |

If the birthday child is younger than 8, look for tracks with a separate junior or "Bambino" circuit and slower karts. Tracks that take children of 5 or under include Aviemore Kart Raceway (from 3), Rye House Kart Raceway (from 3), Absolutely Karting Bristol (from 4), Absolutely Karting Maidenhead (from 4), Avago Karting (from 4), Eddie Irvine Sports (from 4), TeamSport Brent Cross (from 4), TeamSport Newcastle (from 4).
Plan around the youngest guest. A party is only as flexible as its youngest driver. If one guest is 7, you have around 26 tracks to choose from, not 114.
Height limits: the one parents miss
A child can be old enough and still too short. The most common minimum height is 120cm, set by 36 of the 71 tracks that publish one; some ask for more for their faster karts. Measure the smallest guest before you book, and tell the venue about anyone close to the limit.
What real kids karting parties look like
Since July 2026 parents have sent us 95 kids party enquiries through GoKartingUK. Here is what they asked for.
How old was the birthday child?
| Age | Parties | Share |
|---|---|---|
| 7 or under | 8 | |
| 8 to 10 | 33 | |
| 11 to 13 | 33 | |
| 14 to 17 | 20 |
Karting parties skew older than most children's parties. Eight to thirteen is the heart of it, and karting is one of the few party ideas that still works for young teenagers.
How many children came?
| Party size | Parties | Share |
|---|---|---|
| 2 to 4 children | 20 | |
| 5 to 6 | 33 | |
| 7 to 9 | 12 | |
| 10 to 14 | 22 | |
| 15 or more | 8 |
Most karting parties are small: half had between 5 and 10 children. Many venues run party packages for a set number of drivers, so a smaller group can be good value.
What a kids karting party costs
Fewer venues publish party prices than adult prices, so treat these as a guide rather than a market rate. The 15 kids party packages published online at 9 venues had a typical price of £38 per child, ranging from £25 to £65. For 6 children that is about £230.
Junior and family sessions, which suit a smaller family outing rather than a full party, had a typical price of £36 per child across 43 sessions at 17 venues.
Party packages usually include the racing, a briefing, kit and often a podium or certificates. Food, party rooms and cake are often extra, so ask what is included.
Before you book
- Check the youngest and smallest guest against both the age and the height limit.
- Book about a month ahead for a Saturday; earlier in school holidays and around Christmas.
- Ask what the package includes: how much track time, whether there is a podium, and whether food or a party room is extra.
- Indoor tracks run in any weather, which takes the risk out of a booking made weeks ahead.
- Tell the venue about first-timers. Most run a full briefing, and some keep beginners on a slower session.
How we did it
Minimum ages and heights come from the 149 karting venues listed on GoKartingUK, as each venue publishes them; 126 publish a minimum age and 71 a minimum height. Party figures come from the 95 genuine kids party enquiries made through GoKartingUK between July and November 2026, with repeat enquiries counted once; not every parent gave every detail. Prices are the party and junior session prices venues publish on their own booking systems. "Typical" means the median.
