Of the London TeamSport venues, Docklands is the one with the most track to get your teeth into. Its 800-metre circuit is the longest of the group's indoor London sites, laid out over multiple levels with flyovers and real elevation change rather than a flat single floor. The venue sits Thames-side in Charlton, close to the Thames Barrier between Greenwich and Woolwich, and it isn't just karting: there's a Combat Karts battle format and an on-site nine-hole crazy golf course, so a visit can be more than one activity. In 2024 the track switched from petrol to electric karts.

The Circuit

Length is what defines this one. At 800m with sweeping bends, long straights and a multi-level flyover section, there's room to run proper race distances where strategy and tyre-saving matter, not just a quick blast of laps. The electric karts pull hard out of the slow corners and onto the straights, and TeamSport quote a top speed of up to 40mph for the adult machines; some race formats add a steering-wheel boost button for a tactical overtake. It's approachable enough for a first-timer but has the space to reward drivers who string clean laps together.

Who Should Visit

Docklands suits groups who want variety and a longer, more involved race than a compact city track allows. Standard racing is open from age 8 up, with no experience needed — helmet and suit are provided on arrival. The Combat Karts format and mini golf make it a good shout for stag and hen parties, birthdays and mixed groups where not everyone wants to do the same thing, while corporate bookings get the length of circuit that makes team race days feel like the real thing. It's a competitive, high-energy venue rather than a gentle introduction.

Public transport is more rail than Tube here: Charlton and Woolwich Dockyard are the nearest stations (both around a 30-minute walk, or a short bus/taxi hop), and buses 161, 177, 180, 472 and N1 stop about 15 minutes away on the A206. If you're driving, it's handy for the A2 and Blackwall Tunnel approaches.

Prices are mid-range for London karting, with a discount usually available for booking online in advance. It's a busy venue, so reserve ahead for weekends and confirm current session times and rates with the track before you travel.
