The Circuit

What makes the Stoke track stand out is its use of height. The 500 metres take in tight corners and short straights linked by a ramp system that carries you up and down between levels, so momentum management — carrying speed onto and off the inclines — matters as much as picking the right line. It is a layout that flatters a smooth, tidy driver; average laps come in around the 36-second mark. Beginners can get to grips with it quickly, but the elevation and the rhythm of the ramps give more experienced drivers plenty to refine. For a change of pace, the site also runs Combat Karts, a battle format with on-board blasters and power-ups, open to drivers aged 13 and over.

Who Should Visit

Stoke is a good all-rounder. Standard karting is open from age 8, with helmet, suit and a briefing provided, so it suits families, first-timers and children's parties as much as regular racers who want something with a bit more character than a flat loop. Older groups, stag and hen parties get the option of mixing conventional racing with Combat Karts. It is also set up for corporate and team days, with group packages that include exclusive track time, timed racing and catering.

Planning Your Visit

The centre is on Waterloo Road in Burslem (ST6 2QB), between Auckland Street and Pitt Street and roughly a quarter of a mile from the town centre. There is free parking accessed via Pitt Street, and the nearest bus stop, Adelaide Street on route 3, is about a two-minute walk. As an indoor venue it runs year-round in any weather; note the site is only partially wheelchair accessible, on the lower level.

There is a bar and food on site — burgers, pizzas, hot dogs, waffles and other bites — plus free Wi-Fi, so you can settle in and make more of the visit.
