Bayford Meadows has been a fixture of Kent karting since it opened around the turn of the millennium, and it has grown into one of the busier competition circuits in the south east. Set on a 12-acre landscaped, floodlit site on the edge of Sittingbourne, it splits its time between serious club and owner-driver racing and accessible hire karting for the public. That dual identity — a proper licensed race track that still welcomes families — is a big part of why it holds a 4.7 rating from well over 400 Google reviews.
The 1100-metre layout is licensed by Motorsport UK, which puts it a clear notch above a typical leisure loop and means it can host sanctioned races rather than just quick hire sessions. There is enough length here to run full sprint and endurance formats where consistency and race strategy count, not just a handful of flat-out laps. As a floodlit outdoor circuit it can run into the evening and across the seasons, and the venue reckons it stages more than 300 exclusive sprint and endurance hire-kart events every year.
There is genuinely something here for most people. Families and newcomers can book leisure and hire sessions from age 9, with school-holiday arrive-and-drive, junior parties and an academy for younger drivers, while adults race in the hire fleet from 18. At the other end, owner-drivers have their own testing days on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, and the resident Bayford Meadows Kart Racing Club has been running Motorsport UK meetings for over two decades across Bambino, Honda Cadet, Rotax and senior classes. If you want a track you can grow into rather than tick off once, this is one of them.
The circuit is at Symmonds Drive, Eurolink Industrial Estate, Sittingbourne (ME10 3RY), just off the M2 corridor. On-site catering serves hot and cold food and drink, and there is live timing plus circuit-view streaming for spectators. Owner-driver sessions carry proper kit requirements — a kart-spec helmet, CIK-homologated race suit, gloves and ankle-high boots — so check what you need before a practice day.
Being outdoors, sessions run in most weather and wet running is part of the challenge, though it is worth calling ahead if conditions look severe. Weekends and event days are busy, so book in advance and confirm current session times and prices with Bayford Meadows directly, as the calendar shifts through the year.
Drivers need to be at least 9+ to race at Bayford Meadows.
No prior experience is required for standard sessions at Bayford Meadows. The track is rated intermediate-advanced, so while some technique will help you go faster, first-timers are well catered for.

“I was a wet and windy day, but the welcome we got from the staff was full of sunshine. Thank you for making our time with you enjoyable and for putting my rookie grandson at ease. He had the most wonderful time despite the weather. Will be back soon and hopefully have a dry day.”
“Track is great, especially the full circuit. Done owner driving testing and the rental academy which we definitely recommend for new karters. Staff are very helpful and has very good facilities, including the restaurant.”
