The Longest Karting Circuits in the UK

From a 2.1km Teesside giant that hosts a 24-hour race to the kilometre of track hiding inside a Warrington warehouse — the UK's longest kart circuits, ranked by verified length.

The Longest UK Kart Tracks, Ranked

Track length changes everything: top speed, overtaking, race formats, even how tired your arms are at the end. Here are the longest circuits in our directory of 86 UK venues, ranked by the length each venue publishes for its full layout.

Lengths are the venues' published figures for their full layouts; several circuits also run shorter configurations. The 2.1km and 2km figures are the venues' own billing. We left out tracks where published lengths conflict (Hooton Park's own listings vary, for example) rather than guess.

The Giants in Detail

1. Karting Nation Middlesbrough (Teesside Autodrome) — 2,100m

Nothing else in Britain comes close. The full 2.1km layout at Teesside — bookable through Karting Nation Middlesbrough — is billed by the venue as the world's longest kart track. That superlative is the venue's own billing rather than a certified record, but the length itself is well established, and it is why the circuit hosts the British 24-hour kart race and regular Iron Man endurance events. Hand-built racing karts reach around 60mph on the straights, and the layout splits into shorter National and International configurations.

2. Nutts Corner Circuit — ~2,000m

Northern Ireland's biggest circuit, laid out on the old Nutts Corner airfield near Belfast International Airport. The International layout runs to around two kilometres over nine corners, including the well-known Camber Hairpin, with Sodi GT5 karts good for roughly 55mph. A 550m National circuit handles tighter racing. Full details on the Nutts Corner page.

3. Three Sisters Circuit — 1,500m

Built on reclaimed colliery land near Wigan, Three Sisters is a genuine full-size race circuit licensed by both Motorsport UK and the ACU. The 1,500m lap climbs from the Conrod Straight up to Coward's Summit before dropping back to the pits, and the venue runs endurance formats up to the six-hour 3S360. One of the most demanding laps in the country as well as one of the longest.

4. PF International — 1,382m

The most prestigious name on this list. PFI near Grantham holds a CIK-FIA International "A" grade licence — the only short circuit in the UK that does — and has staged FIA Karting World and European Championship rounds. The 1,382m layout, extended in 2011, features a signature bridge section. One caveat: rental karting is strictly 17 and over.

5. Daytona Milton Keynes — 1,360m

The longest track you can drive at a major rental chain. Daytona Milton Keynes' International Circuit was designed by James Hunt in 1990 and packs eleven corners and an uphill straight into its 1,360 metres, with a separate 400m junior circuit alongside. Karts run from 50mph four-strokes to the 70mph DMAX.

6. Shenington Kart Circuit — 1,211m

A club racing institution on Edgehill Airfield near Banbury, hosting kart racing since 1960. The full gearbox configuration measures 1,211m (around 1,018m for direct-drive classes), and the roll call of former racers — Mansell, Coulthard, Button — speaks for itself. Shenington is a racing club first, so check the calendar rather than turning up on spec.

7. The 1,200m club: Ancaster, Karting North East and Whilton Mill

Three very different venues share the 1,200m mark. Ancaster in Lincolnshire pairs its reconfigurable international circuit with a 600m club track and a multi-activity site. Karting North East near Sunderland is a Motorsport UK approved track that has staged British Kart Championship rounds, with grids of up to 35 karts. And Whilton Mill near Silverstone hosts the British Kart Championships and Super 1 Series on the same tarmac the public rents by the session. Red Lodge in Suffolk sits just under the same mark on its full floodlit layout.

Longest in Scotland, Wales and indoors

Regional records worth knowing: Larkhall's recently extended 1,140m lap is Scotland's longest kart circuit; GYG Karting's 1,100m hillside track bills itself as Wales' biggest; and indoors, TeamSport Warrington's 1000m, 22-corner, multi-level circuit is billed by TeamSport as the UK's longest indoor track — a genuine kilometre under one roof.

How We Chose

Rankings use the full-layout length each venue publishes, as verified on our individual track pages. Where a figure is the venue's own billing rather than an independently confirmed measurement (Teesside's 2.1km "world's longest" claim, TeamSport's "UK's longest indoor"), we say so in plain terms. Venues whose published lengths conflict across sources were omitted rather than ranked on a guess, and shorter alternative configurations are noted but not ranked.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the longest go kart track in the UK?

The 2.1km outdoor circuit at Teesside Autodrome in Middlesbrough (bookable through Karting Nation) is the longest kart track in the UK. The venue bills it as the world's longest kart track — that claim is the venue's own billing rather than a certified record, but independent listings describe it as the longest outdoor kart track in the UK.

What is the longest indoor karting track in the UK?

TeamSport Warrington's 1000m multi-level circuit, with 22 corners and a Monaco-style tunnel, is billed by TeamSport as the UK's longest indoor karting track. TeamSport Birmingham also runs to around 1,000m indoors, built around a long elevated section.

Is a longer kart track better?

Longer circuits allow higher speeds, genuine overtaking and full race formats where consistency matters — which is why serious racers prefer them. But they usually cost more per session and are mostly outdoors. For a first taste of karting, a shorter indoor circuit is often the easier introduction.

Can beginners drive the longest UK kart circuits?

Mostly yes. Teesside welcomes arrive-and-drive newcomers with juniors from age 8, Nutts Corner runs speed-limited junior karts from age 9, and Three Sisters takes juniors from 6. The main exception is PF International, where rental karting is strictly 17 and over.
